#booktalk: A New Orleans Threesome

The book is talking about Lily Anima, a girl who is hunted down by her nightmares and she ends up in New Orleans to find salvation. There is goes to a used bookstore and finds a weird couple: the vampire Lawrence Justice and the werewolf Trevor Pack. They give her a room to sleep and a work to keep her busy. The nightmare though are still keeping her up at nights and the demon inside the is waiting for the right moment to take her away with him.

Lily’s a virgin. And whatever paranormal problem she’s having is what has kept her that way. Every time she’s tried to do the deed, something stops her. Except that whenever she loses control of her emotions something blows up around her.

Together, the trio encounters magic and unspeakable evil, and Trevor and Lawrence attempt to help Lily turn her powers into a gift rather than a curse. Ultimately, to get the demon off her back, Lily’s men will have to show her all the wicked ways the three of them can come together.

I grabbed this ebook for the steamy romance, but instead i read something that was tring to balance between an erotica and a paranormal novel. It seemed like the author didn’t knew what she wanted exactly from this novel. This only made me to don’t get into the book.

The world building, though, it was very good. The paranormal element it was getting mixed up with the real world in a way that made you think that these things are real. At some point i caught myself thinking that it wanted to know more for this world. The vampires, the werewolves, the demons, the witches, the voodoo people, all these elements were so good. I can’t tell the same about the story, which i wouldn’t judge this harshly keeping in mind it is just an erotica novel, but i could see that the author was trying to bring more into the surface, so i can’t keep myself from judging this try.

All the characters, in the other hand, had a depth besides the protagonist. The two boys had many sides and everyone showed up. You could see the past into their actions and how it effected theirs emotions. Even the side characters had more depth than the protagonist. I found Lily to be flat without any real emotion.

I enjoyed the romance between Trevor and Lawrence and i would be okay if Lily hadn’t gotten in the way.

To sum up it was an okay story, nothing more.

That was my opinion. A big thank you again for NetGalley and Louisa Bacio for the copy.

Tootles!
